Apologies for the long delay since there have been any alterations to this page, System Checker is going to be re-written in C++ very shortly to improve performance and to use Windows 95 enhancements. In the mean time the last V.Basic. version is shown below. A few bugs from version 0.6 were fixed to provide a stable product.

System Checker For Windows Version 0.7

DESCRIPTION

This program should help you find all the information you need to troubleshoot problems you have with your PC's setup : whether hardware or software related. It will tell you about your disk, screen, memory, CPU, keyboard, network support, COM ports, Windows setup and much more.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

This program runs on either Windows 3.10/3.11 or Windows 95 ( and has been tested on both ) . Because of the differences between the two Operating Systems some of the features of System Checker may not perform as expected under Windows 95 (it has been developed primarily on Win 3.11). A 32 bit dedicated version for Windows 95 is anticipated in the near future to correct these problems. System Checker started as a project to help me learn how use Visual Basic 3.0 and has moved on from there to become a useful utility.

Future releases will also cover the areas of communications, printing and more on memory and disk space information as well as improved help and documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

System requirements are minimal, pretty much any IBM compatible PC running Windows 3.x or Win95 should run System Checker. This version was developed on Win3.11 over MS-DOS 6.22, and has been tested on the release version of Windows 95. If you have problems with either of these please e'mail me.

THIS SOFTWARE IS SHAREWARE

This software is shareware and is in the early stages of development. Please let me know by e'mail if you have any problems with System Checker, please include a list of the version number of System Checker (in case its fixed in more recent release), the operating system you are using, and the nature of the bug as well as any configuration information you think might be relevant.

FONTS TROUBLESHOOTING

If you have problems with early System Checker versions loading the fonts screen, go into your control panel for fonts and set the Truetype fonts only in applications checkbox to True, then restart System Checker.
